The rumored middleweight fight between Brian Stann and Wanderlei Silva has been made official by the UFC. The two fan favorites will meet on the main card of UFC 130. The event takes place on May 28th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The third fight between Frank Edgar and Gray Maynard for the UFC lightweight title, headlines the evening.

Brian Stann has skyrocketed up the middleweight ladder after upsetting Chris Leben at UFC 125 in on New Year’s Day. The win was his second in a row since dropping to the 185-pound division, beating Mike Massenzio in his debut at the weight class. Stann made the decision to drop weight after losing a one-sided decision against uber-prospect Phil Davis.

Wanderlei Silva returns after a 15-month layoff, due to a broken rib and torn ACL. He is 1-0 as a middleweight, beating Michael Bisping by unanimous decision, but the call was highly debatable. Silva lost back-to-back fights against Rich Franklin and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, prompting the drop to 185-pounds.
