Due to an apparent leg injury, Luke Rockhold has been forced out of his announced fight with Tim Kennedy. Instead, Kennedy will meet Dutch kick-boxer Melvin Manhoef. Originally Kennedy was slotted to face Jason “Mayhem” Miller, but was later announced that Rockhold would be his opponent. Strikeforce: Columbus takes place on March 5th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Melvin Manhoef looks to snap a current two-fight losing streak. He made his Strikeforce debut in January of last year against Robbie Lawler. Manhoef got off to an early start hurting Lawler with strikes, but when Manhoef went in for the finish, Lawler KO’d him with a vicious right hand to the jaw for the dramatic comeback victory. Manhoef then went to Japan to compete in DREAM’s light heavyweight tournament, but was upset by Tatsuya Mizuno in the first round.

Tim Kennedy started his Strikeforce career with three consecutive victories, including wins over Nick Thompson and Trevor Prangley. The streak earned him a shot at the vacant middleweight title against Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, but lost a closely contested unanimous decision.
