During the post-fight interview following Jon Jones’ second round submission victory, Joe Rogan announced that Rashad Evans was injured during training and forced out his title fight with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua. An emotional Jon Jones fell to his knees, when told that he’d be the replacement for Evans and get a shot at the title at UFC 128. The event takes place on March 19th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua will make his first title defense since beating Lyoto Machida with a first round knockout back in May of last year. Rua was awarded an immediate rematch following a closely-contested bout with Machida in October of 2009, in which he lost by a unanimous decision. He lost his highly anticipated UFC debut against Forrest Griffin in September of 2007, but then won back-to-back fights against Mark Coleman and Chuck Liddell.

Jon Jones has currently won three straight fights, since being disqualified for using “12 to 6” elbows on Matt Hamill, in a bout he was clearly on his way to winning. During his streak, he has beaten Brandon Vera, Vladimir Matyushenko, and most recently Ryan Bader.
