For the second time this week, Sengoku has granted the release of one of it’s top fighters and they have gone on to sign with the UFC. This time it’s heavyweight talent Dave Herman, who will make his UFC debut against Rob Broughton at UFC 131. The event is expected to take place on June 11th at the Rogers Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Ultimate Fighter 13 coaches, Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos meet in the main event of the evening.
Dave Herman has been in the news more lately for his contract battles with Bellator, rather than his in-cage performances. The issues have been resolved, and he has since won back-to-back fights. Herman finally got a fight with Bellator and quickly disposed of Polish prospect Michal Kita with a first round omoplata victory. He then went to Japan to be apart of Sengoku’s year-end event and dominated Yoshihiro Nakao for three rounds, earning the easy unanimous decision.
UK heavyweight, Rob Broughton is currently on a five-fight win streak, including a third round, rear naked choke victory over Vinicius Kappke de Quieroz in his UFC debut. Before signing with the UFC, Broughton won a one-night tournament in the UK, defeating Neil Wain, James Thompson, and Oli Thompson all in the same night.
