A light heavyweight tilt between Jason Brilz and Phil Davis is now expected for UFC 129. The event takes place on April 29th at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Georges St Pierre defends his welterweight title against Jake Shields in the main event of the evening.

Jason Brilz returns to the cage for the first time since losing a split decision to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, in what many people considered the “Robbery of the Year”. Brilz dominated Nogueira on the mat for two and half rounds, but somehow the judges awarded the fight to Nogueira. Previous to the Nogueira fight, Brilz defeated Eric ‘Red’ Schafer by unanimous decision back at UFC on Versus 1 in March of last year. He was expected to face Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 122 in Germany, but was forced out due to an undisclosed injury.

Phil Davis was originally expected to face Matt Hamill at UFC 129, but Hamill was given the opportunity to face Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 130 after Thiago Silva was removed from the card pending a failed drug test investigation. Davis is 4-0 in the UFC with two wins coming by way of submission. He last defeated Tim Boetsch at UFC 123 with a kimura from top position, now aptly named the “Mr. Wonderful”.
