Nik Lentz

– 20-3-2 MMA/ 4-0-1 UFC record

Waylon Lowe

– 10-3-0 MMA/2-1 UFC Record

——————————————————————————-

A lightweight bout between two wrestling standouts has been added to UFC Fight Night 24. Nik Lentz and Waylon Lowe have agreed to meet eachother on the preliminary card portion of the card. UFC Fight Night 24 takes place on March 26th at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. A light heavyweight fight between Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira serves as the main event for the evening.

Nik Lentz returns to action for the first time, since winning a highly-controversial split decision over Tyson Griffin at UFC 123. The win was his fourth inside the octagon, with his only minor hiccup being a draw against Thiago Tavares. Lentz also holds victories over Rob Emerson, Rafaello Oliveira, and a less-than-inspiring win over UK fighter, Andre Winner.

Since being the victim of a monsterous knee to the body form Melvin Guillard, Waylon Lowe has found his stride inside the cage, winning his last two fights. Last month, Lowe put together his most impressive performance to date with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Brazillian submission ace, Willamy Friere.

Jason Brilz vs Phil Davis Targeted for UFC 129

MMA Junkie Reports:

http://mmajunkie.com/news/22498/phil-davis-gets-jason-brilz-at-ufc-129.mma

Jason Brilz

– 18-3-1 MMA/ 3-2 UFC

– Lost 2 of last 3 Fights

– Notable Wins: Tim Boestch, Eric Schafer, Jason MacDonald

Phil Davis

– 8-0-0 MMA/ 4-0 UFC Record

– 2 TKO, 3 Sub, 3 Decision Victories

– Notable Wins: Brian Stann, Alexander Gustafsson, Tim Boestch

———————————————————————————

A light heavyweight tilt between Jason Brilz and Phil Davis is now expected for UFC 129. The event takes place on April 29th at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Georges St Pierre defends his welterweight title against Jake Shields in the main event of the evening.

Jason Brilz returns to the cage for the first time since losing a split decision to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, in what many people considered the “Robbery of the Year”. Brilz dominated Nogueira on the mat for two and half rounds, but somehow the judges awarded the fight to Nogueira. Previous to the Nogueira fight, Brilz defeated Eric ‘Red’ Schafer by unanimous decision back at UFC on Versus 1 in March of last year. He was expected to face Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 122 in Germany, but was forced out due to an undisclosed injury.

Phil Davis was originally expected to face Matt Hamill at UFC 129, but Hamill was given the opportunity to face Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 130 after Thiago Silva was removed from the card pending a failed drug test investigation. Davis is 4-0 in the UFC with two wins coming by way of submission. He last defeated Tim Boetsch at UFC 123 with a kimura from top position, now aptly named the “Mr. Wonderful”.

————————————————————————-

For the second time this week, Sengoku has granted the release of one of it’s top fighters and they have gone on to sign with the UFC. This time it’s heavyweight talent Dave Herman, who will make his UFC debut against Rob Broughton at UFC 131. The event is expected to take place on June 11th at the Rogers Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Ultimate Fighter 13 coaches, Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos meet in the main event of the evening.

Dave Herman has been in the news more lately  for his contract battles with Bellator, rather than his in-cage performances. The issues have been resolved, and he has since won back-to-back fights. Herman finally got a fight with Bellator and quickly disposed of Polish prospect Michal Kita with a first round omoplata victory. He then went to Japan to be apart of Sengoku’s year-end event and dominated Yoshihiro Nakao for three rounds, earning the easy unanimous decision.

UK heavyweight, Rob Broughton is currently on a five-fight win streak, including a third round, rear naked choke victory over Vinicius Kappke de Quieroz in his UFC debut. Before signing with the UFC, Broughton won a one-night tournament in the UK, defeating Neil Wain, James Thompson, and Oli Thompson all in the same night.

KOTC veteran and UFC newcomer Reuben Duran takes his spot and will meet Takeya Mizugaki on the preliminary portion of the card. UFC on Versus 3 takes place on March 3rd at the KFC Yum! Arena in Louisville, Kentucky. A welterweight tilt between Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez headlines the show.

Reuben Duran makes his UFC debut carrying a four-fight win streak, including victories over Greg Guzman, Ryan Diaz, and Kana Hyatt at King of the Cage events. Six of Duran’s seven victories have come by stoppages, three TKO’s and three submissions.

Mizugaki made his WEC debut against then-champion Miguel Torres back in April of 2009, losing a unanimous decision but earning the respect of the MMA community for testing Torres further than anyone else previously had for some time. Since the title fight, Mizugaki has had mixed success in the cage, going just 2-2 in the WEC. Most recently Mizugaki was submitted in the first round by Urijah Faber, making his 135-pound debut.

– Notable Wins: James Lee, Thales Leites, James Irvin

———————————————————————-

For the second time in a few months, Alessio Sakara will get another opponent change for UFC on Versus 3. Rafael Natal suffered a knee injury while training, so UFC newcomer Chris Weidman will get a shot in the big leagues in his place. UFC on Versus 3 takes place on March 3rd at the KFC Yum! Arena in Louisville, Kentucky. A welterweight match-up between Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez serves as the main event of the evening.

Highly-touted prospect, Chris Weidman makes his UFC debut with just four previous professional fights. All four fights were with the New Jersey based promotion, Ring of Combat. Weidman is a two-time Division I All-American wrestler out of Hofstra University, and trains with Matt Serra at the Serra-Longo Fight Team in New York. He made his professional debut February of 2009, and has since gone 4-0 with two TKO and one submission victories.

Alessio Sakara has suprised many observers lately, putting together his first three-fight win streak since 2004. Injuries has plagued his career as of late, only fighting three times in a little over two years. Sakara has beaten Joe Vedepo, Thales Leites (by controversial decision), and James Irvin during his latest win streak.
