A featherweight match-up between Josh Grispi and George Roop has been added to the Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. The event takes place on June 4th at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. A lightweight tilt featuring Anthony Pettis and Clay Guida serves as the main event of the evening.
A lot has changed in the life of Josh Grispi in the last few months. He once was the number one contender, expected to meet champion Jose Aldo at UFC 125. A back injury forced Aldo out of the fight, and Grispi instead meet up-and-coming prospect Dustin Poirier. Grispi ended up losing a one-sided unanimous decision to Poirier, also losing his chance to face Aldo at a future event. Before the Poirier loss, Grispi was running on a ten-fight win streak, including victories over Mark Hominick, LC Davis, and legendary Jens Pulver.
George Roop has been the poster-child for inconsistency in his last few fights. Most recently he suffered a first round TKO loss to Mark Hominick at the second ‘Fight for the Troops’ event held last month. Previous to that, he earned possibly his greatest win-to-date with a stunning head kick knockout over ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung last September. Roop also fought Leonard Garcia to a draw at WEC 47 in a fight many people believed Roop had won.
