An original scheduled fight between Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller and Tim Kennedy has been scratched. Instead, the Army veteran will meet top middleweight prospect Luke Rockhold at Strikeforce: Columbus. The event takes place on March 5th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Tim Kennedy started his Strikeforce career with three consecutive victories, including wins over Nick Thompson and Trevor Prangley. The streak earned him a shot at the vacant middleweight title against Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, but lost a closely contested unanimous decision.

Luke Rockhold is considered one of the best prospects at 185-pounds. He is currently on a six-fight win streak, including victories over Paul Bradley and UFC veteran, Jesse Taylor. Rockhold has been apart of Strikeforce’s Challengers series for his last three bouts, but makes the jump to the big shows to face Kennedy.

——————————————————————————–

Tim Kennedy and Jason “Mayhem” Miller are expected to meet for the third time in their careers at Strikeforce: Columbus. The event is scheduled to take place March 5th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Tim Kennedy looks to get back on the right track after losing a hard fought unanimous decision to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in a fight that was for the Strikeforce middleweight title. The loss to Jacare snapped a four-fight win streak that went back to December of 2007.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller is fresh off an emotional victory over his childhood idol, Kazushi Sakuraba at DREAM 16 in September of last year. The win was Miller’s second consecutive victory, also beating Tim Stout with a first round TKO at Strikeforce: Nashville.

Tim Kennedy defeated “Mayhem” Miller in their first bout back in 2003 by unanimous decision, but “Mayhem” got his revenge in the rematch, earning a decision victory over Kennedy at DREAM 8 in 2008.
